Chinese New Year Celebration with Wrapping Dumplings (Jiaozi) Feb 10, 2010, Students and Teachers at Global Hanyu Malaysia gathered at the Center to make dumplings to celebrate the Chinese New Year. The group had a great time watching Dongning Laoshi demonstrate how to wrap the dumpling. Of course everyone had a good time eating the fruits of their labour. Jan 27-29, 2010, for 3 days at the Grand Hall of ChungHwa Independent School, Confucius Institute@Shanghai Jiaotong University-Global Hanyu & Culture Center presented the above exhibition. Some 6000 students, faculty and parents attended the 3 day fair. Our teachers Changxin and Dongning presented a session on "China Now" to some 400 Senior Middle 3 students.

KUALA LUMPUR, 2010: The Confucius Institute@Shanghai Jiaotong University& Global Hanyu and Culture Center presented the Nihao Malaixiya Launching Fair at The Star Edu-cation Fair 2010. We have chosen this fair because this is the leading fair in Malaysia where English and other non-Chinese speaking crowd will attend. This year, the fair is reported to be bigger and better than any of the previous fairs over the past 22 years held by the Star newspaper, the leading English daily in Malaysia with over a million readership. .As the biggest education fair in Malaysia and one of the largest in Asia, .All five halls in the KL Convention Centre had to be booked for the first time, as 161 exhibitors took up 510 booths.

September 21 - December 16, 2009, French CERAM students study in China. 46 students from France's CERAM Business School will spend 12 weeks immersion program with SJTU-GHCC in Suzhou beginning from Sept 21 to Dec 16. These students will study Chinese language and culture and will also be following the Great Wall Chinese Online. Hanban has supported this program by giving each and everyone of these students a free one year account.

05 15位学员成功完成对外汉语教师培训课程!上海交通大学-全球汉语中心再度成功主办已经进入第七届的汉语教师短期培训班。这个为期10周 (7月17日-9月20日)的不脱产培训课程是由上海交通大学凌德祥教授和王郡玉副教授联合指导。学员来自不同的背景,但他们都有一个共同的目标:要成为对外汉语教师。这个针对性的课程刚好满足了学员们的要求,同时也为马来西亚对外汉语教学队伍增添了15位新成员。

43 Executives from SunWay Corporation; Malaysia's leading real estate and Hospitality Company will begin Mandarin classes with SJTU-GHCC from October 1st. These executives come from various subsidiaries of the Sunway Group. The Group is active in developing its China Business. SJTU-GHCC has prepared a special program incorporating Business Hanyu together with online learning to assist these students. This pioneer group will also receive a free online account for
“Great Wall Chinese” effective for one year.

May 31, 2009,The Confucius Institute Malaysia @ Shanghai Jiaotong University-Global Hanyu & Culture Center conducted the first New HSK Test on May 31 2009 from 10am to 12 noon. A total of 70 students participated in the Level 1 ( 27) and Level 2 ( 43) HSK Test. These 70 students comprises Malaysians, Koreans, Swiss, Indonesian and French. The test was held at the Conference Room on the 4F of Jaya 33 Office in Petaling Jaya, in the same building where the Center is located. Students were enthusiastic, majority arrived early, all were punctual; the test progressed well. Students are enthusiastic to know their progress and enquired to participate in tests for advanced levels. 95% of the particpants are students with the SJTU-GHCC. The test results will be sent to Beijing for Marking and students will know their results by end of June 2009.

February 15, 2009, Two of our senior teachers, Changxin and Liying started a 10 weeks teaching to 79 students from the CERAM Business School in Suzhou from February 16 2009.

Shanghai Jiaotong University-Global Hanyu Center is the designated Hanyu provider for the GIST-CERAM International Academic Exchange Program in Suzhou.

The CERAM Business School, a renowned business school from Southern France, has set up the CERAM CHINA CENTER, a partnership with the Global Institute of Software Engineering (GIST), French students will spend 10 weeks in China in an immersion program while completing their required credit for their Master of Science program.

News--Kuala Lumpur 8.08.8th August 2008: At the peak of the night, some 500 people gathered at the lobby of Jaya 33 where the Shanghai Jiao tong University-Global Hanyu Center is located. Members of the public, students, staffs, tenants of the complex of various ethnic origins had a great time celebrating the opening of the Beijing Olympics. The crowd cheered and engaged themselves as the performance unfolds in the national stadium in Beijing.

The event was organized by Shanghai Jiaotong University-Global Hanyu & Culture Center in partnership with the Management of Jaya 33 and Pahlawan Volunteers. The food outlets in the Complex; Italian Kitchen, Vietnamese Kitchen and Jaya Grocer Bakery all served complimentary food to the attendees. The Official sponsor of the games, Coca Cola provided free drinks for the evening. The crowd was enthusiastic and watched the entire opening ceremony that went from 8pm to midnight.

Earlier a complimentary Hanyu lesson was held at the Center for those who are interested. A total of 28 Chinese characters related to the Olympics were taught by Chang Xin Laoshi.

吉隆坡2008年8月8日讯- 为见证北京奥运会开幕式,大约五百人出席了由上海交通大学-全球汉语中心,Jaya 33与Pahlawan网络自愿团体主办的“让我们与北京奥运一同狂欢”晚会。出席者聚集在Jaya 33大厅一同见证奥运开幕式。大家的欢呼声不逊色于在北京开幕式的现场。

当晚, Jaya 33的租户如Italian Kitchen, Vietnamese Kitchen 和Jaya Grocer Bakery 也参与其盛,赞助食物。 奥运会指定赞助商可口可乐赞助了888罐可口可乐予当晚的出席者。观看奥运开幕式的人潮一直聚集至午夜12点30分。

在当晚的奥运开幕式前,来自全球汉语中心的畅老师也为学生上了一堂“奥运汉语课”。

May 16, 2008, Radio Television Malaysia (RTM) in a lead to set the new standard for Mandarin for the Country is working with Shanghai Jiaotong University-Global Hanyu & Culture Center (SJTU-GHCC) to provide comprehensive training to all its broadcasters and editors in the Mandarin Section to make the transition to Standard Putonghua.

Second batch training was held from 14 April 2008 to 16 May 2008 at Institute Penyiaran Tun Abdul Razak (IPTAR). This second training was conduct by Associate Professor Dr Hu Jian Jun from Shanghai Jiaotong University. This six weeks' Mandarin Training was given to 35 staffs from AiFM, Suara Malaysia, TV News and Radio News.

In Malaysia, the Chinese language does not align fully with the international standard; and in view of the rising importance of China on the global stage, and more and more countries are adopting the Chinese Putonghua Standard, RTM is working with SJTU-GHCC in a series of training programs for its broadcasters. The series was started in 2007 August, and there is one more training program will take place in 2008, July by Professor Dr Wang Ji Ping from Shanghai Jiaotong University.

The Certificate Presentation Ceremony of this training was held on 16 May 2008 at Dewan Cendiakiawan, IPTAR. Dato' Haji Abdul Rahman Hamid, Director General of Department of Broadcasting, presented the certificates to 35 students.
